Terms of Use

These terms cover the Rote apps for iPhone, iPad and Mac, and this website. They are written to be read, not to intimidate. By using Rote you agree to them.

The licence

Your purchase gives you a personal, non-transferable licence to use Rote on the Apple devices signed into your App Store account. One purchase covers all supported platforms. You may not redistribute, resell, or attempt to extract and reuse Rote's code or assets.

Your content

Everything you create in Rote is yours. It lives on your devices and, if you enable sync, in your own iCloud account. We claim no rights over it, take no copy of it, and — as the privacy policy explains — cannot access it.

Your responsibilities

• Keep your devices and iCloud account secure; they are the only keys to your data.
• Use Rote lawfully. Don't use it to store content you have no right to hold.
• Maintain your own backups of anything important. iCloud sync is a convenience, not a backup service.

Purchases and refunds

Purchases are processed by Apple under the App Store's terms. Refunds are handled by Apple through reportaproblem.apple.com; we cannot issue them directly.

Sync depends on Apple

Sync runs on Apple CloudKit and therefore on your iCloud account being in good standing and Apple's services being available. If iCloud is down or your account runs out of storage, Rote keeps working on-device and catches sync up later — but we can't control Apple's side of that.

No warranty

Rote is provided "as is". We work hard to make it reliable, but we don't warrant that it will be uninterrupted or error-free. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim related to Rote is limited to the amount you paid for it.

Termination

You can stop using Rote at any time; deleting the apps and your iCloud data (see the privacy policy) removes everything. We may stop offering Rote for sale, but a version you have purchased and installed keeps working — it does not depend on our servers, because there are none.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change materially, the date above changes with them, and continued use after a change means you accept the new terms.
